I cannot believe

I have seen various proofs of human foolishness. So has everybody, I suppose.

Recently, I ran into very seriously looking attempt to sell so called "Bad Code Offsets". Indeed, it is not so bad if someone wants to fix undesired consequences of his deeds. Or just looking for a relief from remorse.

Frankly, I have written tons of really awful code. I feel sorry for those who had to deal with it. The poor code is bad. Bad things make the world worse. Sticking to self-discipline makes sense. Even if someone is a programmer.

But I am not sure whether anything can be rectified by purchasing indulgence. Where is the line between dedication and religion? And where the religion is replaced by fanaticism? I do not understand.
